Calling all dessert enthusiasts to discover this delicious Vegan Apple Strudel recipe! Think juicy apples, cinnamon, and sugary layers. Let’s dive in!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 5 fl oz water
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 egg substitute
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 apples
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup vegan butter
  • 1/4 cup vegan bread crumbs
  • Powdered sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, a pinch of salt, 3 tbsp of oil, 5 fl oz of water, and 1 egg substitute. Incorporate the ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until you have a smooth and elastic dough.
  3. Place the dough in the fridge to rest for 1 hour.
  4. While the dough is resting, peel 3 apples and cut them into cubes. In a bowl, mix the apple cubes with the juice of 1 lemon, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine 1/4 cup of vegan butter and 1/4 cup of vegan bread crumbs.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the dough on a clean kitchen towel sprinkled with flour. Use your hands to gently stretch and thin the dough until it’s approximately the size of the towel.
  8. Spread the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the stretched dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  9. Next, evenly spread the apple mixture over the breadcrumbs.
  10. Use the kitchen towel to help you roll the strudel tightly, starting from one edge and rolling it up.
  11. Place the rolled strudel onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  12. Brush the top of the strudel with vegan butter.
  13. Bake the strudel in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until it turns golden brown.
  14. Once baked, remove the strudel from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  15. Dust the strudel with powdered sugar for decoration.
  16. Slice and serve the vegan apple strudel, and enjoy your delicious homemade dessert!
