At Veggly, nothing warms our hearts more than seeing love cross oceans, time zones, and all kinds of distances. Daniela and António’s beautiful story is a powerful reminder that when two people are truly meant for each other, love finds its way — no matter what.
They connected on Veggly on August 12th, 2024. At the time, Daniela was living in Joinville, Brazil, and António, a Portuguese medical student, had just arrived in Curitiba for an exchange program. What followed was a connection full of warmth, depth, and a growing spiritual bond that couldn’t be contained by geography or time.
We’re honored to share their journey in their own words:
“We started talking on Veggly on August 12th, 2024. At the time, Daniela was living in Joinville, and António (Portuguese by nationality) had just arrived in Curitiba on an exchange program.
From the very first messages, we felt very comfortable with each other in everything we talked about. We felt like we could talk about anything without judgment, always with ease. Even though we were two hours apart, time and space felt like something we both shaped to our liking — our eyes meeting, our fingers touching in a way that wasn’t physical, but more than that, spiritual. With every message exchanged, we grew closer. Every new thing we discovered we had in common brought a smile, a laugh, or even a quiet sigh — the kind that makes you ask yourself and the Universe, ‘Where have you been all this time?’
The truth is, because of life’s circumstances, it took us a while to meet in person — about two months and three days after our first message. But we feel that everything happened for a reason, and the whole story unfolded exactly as it was meant to.
António went back to Portugal to finish his academic year (he studies Medicine). He completed his exams and a mandatory internship. And as soon as he had the chance, he returned to Brazil. And yes — straight into Daniela’s arms.
While we were apart, there were very few days we didn’t talk — even if just to share something small. Ironically, it was from Portugal to Brazil that our “X factor,” which had always been there, suddenly shot up to the sky and lit up.
We became inseparable in sharing every moment of our days — in every message, voice note, or video call. With every passing day, our love grew and strengthened so much that we often felt like shouting from the rooftops the feelings flowing in our hearts.
The entire lead-up to finally being together had its ups and downs, but we always supported one another (even the flight had to be rescheduled). And we knew that even if it took a little longer, we would be there, ready for our eyes, smiles, and souls to finally meet face to face.
Today, we are living together, sharing a life, building our home. We’re full of plans — not just for the present, but for the future too. Every day is special, each one with its own challenges, and our mutual support is always there to help us face them. Our relationship is nurtured and cared for, just like each plant we have at home.
And there’s nothing more beautiful than, after a long and tiring day, curling up in each other’s arms after a delicious meal, sharing all our highs and lows — breathing in each other’s presence with a silly little smile, until we finally fall asleep…”
