We have a new scammer detection system!

We recently started using a new scammer detection system to improve your experience.

Veggly Safety Tips

Every day we strive to keep fake users, scammers and stalkers away, and make sure Veggly continues to be a safe place to meet new, like-minded people. We take this issue very seriously and ban fake/scammer users on a daily basis, based on the reports which we review regularly.

To boost these efforts, we recently started using a new scammer detection system  to improve your experience.

However, even with our new tool, it is still important to report suspicious profiles. You can you can do this by clicking the “Report Abuse” function (at the three points at the top-right corner) and we’ll investigate.

The reasons to report include:

– User is stalking you

– Abusive Pictures

– Fake User

– Commercial Account

– Under Aged

– Aggressive Chatting

You can also add a free text explaining why you are reporting someone. And if you need to include a screenshot, for example, feel free to send it to us at [email protected].

Best vegan dating cities in the world

New data reveals the world’s best cities for vegan dating.

Today, the Veggly team is very excited to release new data revealing the world’s best cities for vegan dating. Right now, London takes the number one spot, with the highest number of users in relation to population (81 users per million). London has over 12,000 users on Veggly, with and over 22,000 ‘Veg-Matches’ so far.

Lisbon, Portugal, is number two on the list, with the second highest number of users in relation to population, with 49 Veggly users for every 1 million people in the city. Very close behind is Amsterdam, in third place, with 48 per million.

Moving across the Atlantic, San Francisco takes fourth place, with 31 per million, followed Toronto in fifth place (24), and Los Angeles in sixth (20). Continuing west, Sydney (19) slides into seventh place as the top city in Australia.

The German cities of Frankfurt (18.9) and Berlin (18) place eighth and ninth respectively, followed by the big apple, New York City, in tenth (16).

Despite not having a city in the top three, the United States boasts the highest overall number of Veggly users in one country, with 32,376.

In the past year, Veggly has grown rapidly, reaching over 160,000 global users (7x growth since July 2019), from the US, to Canada, to Australia, to Denmark and beyond.

Available globally, Veggly is set to continue its growth thanks to an army of vegan volunteers around the world who have worked together to translate the app into Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, Italian, Danish and Polish, with many more languages on the way.

In response to the new city hotspots data, Veggly’s Founder, Alex Felipelli, said: “It’s great to see so many thriving hotspots for vegans and vegetarians looking for love across the world. London in particular is leading the way, with over 12,000 users now.

“Our mission is to help these hotspots grow and build new ones by making the Veggly app accessible to everyone, no matter where they are. As more people go vegan and vegetarian, we want to make sure they can find love along the way with likeminded people. That’s why we’ll continue investing and updating the app with new features every month, available for all countries.”

Tip of the Day: Complete your Veggly Profile!

A complete and up to date veggly profile can improve your chances of a Veg-Match. Check out this #tipoftheday for all our Veggly users:

4 Ways to improve your Veggly Profile

  1. Upload all 9 pictures. First impression is important! Use this space to show who you are: use some pictures clearly showing yourself and some showing your lifestyle: what you like to do, your pets etc. BTW, if you don’t have at least on picture, your Veggly profile will not be shown to potential Veg-Matches
  2. Complete your about section: describe yourself, what you like to do and interesting things about you. What about vegan/ vegetarian specifics? Use this to show potential Veg-Matches how much you love the animals, the environment etc. A Veggly profile is SO much more than a regular profile 😊
  3. Use the app frequently. The default order of people’s feed uses mostly when they were last online. That means when you login, your Veggly profile goes to the top and is presented to more people. That means more chances of a Veg-Match!
  4. Consider changing your filters of age and distance. This may not be an option for you but it’s worth revising if, to find a Veg-Match, you wouldn’t be willing to go a bit farther away or out of your age range.

There you have it! Using dating apps can be tiring sometimes so we hope this tip helps you make the most out of Veggly and find your Veg-Match like so many have!

Vegan Thai Peanut Sweet Potato Buddha Bowl

Check out this amazing Vegan Thai Peanut Sweet Potato Buddha Bowl recipe! Special thanks to Whitney Bond for sharing the original recipe idea. Read bellow for ingredients and directions.

Vegan Thai Peanut Sweet Potato Buddha Bowl

Roast the Sweet Potatoes.

Toss small diced sweet potatoes with olive oil, minced garlic, fresh rosemary, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Spread in an even layer on a baking sheet. Place in a 425°F preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

Prepare the quinoa.

While the sweet potatoes are roasting, prepare the quinoa, or grain of your choice, for the base of the bowl. Add 1/2 cup uncooked quinoa to a medium pot with 1 cup of water. Place on the stove over high heat and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat to medium low and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside for 5 minutes. Remove the lid and fluff the quinoa with a fork. Set aside until you’re ready to prepare the bowls.

Prepare the Vegan Thai Peanut Sauce.

While the sweet potatoes are roasting and quinoa is cooking on the stove, prepare the peanut sauce. Add coconut milk, peanut butter, Thai red curry paste and apple cider vinegar to a blender or food processor. Add soy sauce, brown sugar and fresh squeezed lime juice. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Put the Buddha Bowl Recipe together.

Divide the cooked quinoa between two bowls. Top each bowl with half of the roasted sweet potatoes. Add shredded carrots, cilantro and chopped peanuts. Drizzle Thai peanut sauce over the bowls.

Vegan Couple Meets on Veggly #OurVegMatch !

From now on, we will start sharing some inspiring stories about people who had the opportunity to meet vegan partners or friends, thanks to Veggly! This first one is this cute vegan couple from Germany!

We will put all of these stories under #OurVegMatch to make it easier to find.

Helping vegans and vegetarians meet is the main reason why we created Veggly and knowing it is working makes us very happy and inspires us to keep going!

Evi and Falco met through Veggly and are dating nowadays. Here’s the testimonial Evi shared with us:

“Hey, so this is our love story. My name is Evi and I am 18. My partner’s name is Falco and he is 23. We matched on the 13th December 2019 on the app. We had many awesome dates, the first one being on a vegan Christmas market! Since the 2nd of February 2020 we are officially a couple.

The story began when I just signed up on the app (on the 13th dec), scrolled trough and then I saw his cute merge smile. We both clicked each other’s “like” buttons and we matched <3 Later he told me that he saw a new like and immediately knew I was the one when he saw my profile. We texted for a few days, shared each other’s instagram and our numbers later on. We noticed a strong connection between us and decided to meet asap. We live in different cities (I am from Krefeld and he is from Herne),

I don’t think we would have met without the app. We are real greenies & the connection is even greener, so we took the train to see each other, always with the hydro flask and a vegan snack in the backpack. I had a relationship with an omnivore for 2.5 years, & I have to admit that it was awful going out eating outside or to talk about the climate change, animal agriculture etc. I was sure that my next partner should have the same values as me. I am so grateful that I found Falco through Veggly.

We have the same values and beliefs, the same ideology and the same interests. I mean we share everything!! We love to cook together and marinade some good tofu. We also went to a vegan meet-up and met some really nice people with the same interests and taste of food. I am so happy that I found someone, who supports me and makes me happy – he does. I can only recommend to date another vegan, the chances that your vegan partner is a good cook is very high, also you have someone on your side who encourages you to stand up for what you believe in. ”

(The first pic is from our first date, on a ferris wheel 🎡, the other pics are us now. We went to a vintage store and we enjoy spending time with his lil cute doggie 🐶)

Sincerely Evi

Tip of the Day: Reorder your Veggly Feed!

Did you know that you can reorder your veggly feed? Check out this #tipoftheday for all our Veggly users.

Have you ever felt like you see too many people that are not that close to you? Or perhaps you felt that you are seeing always the same people? Read on for some tips on how to improve that.

Veggly Feed

When you open your Home screen on Veggly, you will be presented with the list of users within your interests and filters. The default order is by users who were last online on Veggly. But you can change it to the following options at the floating top-left “order” icon.

The Veggly Feed Options:

  1. Default: By default, the Veggly feed will show you people within your filters. The most important factor here is when users were last online. As a side note, when you login, your profile moves to the top, which increases your chances of a Veg-Match.
  2. Distance: Shows whoever is closer to you. If distance is really important to you, you can use this order so you see first the ones that are around you 😉
  3. New Users: Shows profiles that were recently added. It’s a great filter if you have seen most of the profiles within your filters. You can use it to see those that you have not seen yet.
